Setting Personal Objectives
Many people feel lost in the world. They work hard but get nowhere worthwhile.

They feel this way because they haven't given enough thought to what they want from life and haven't made clear goals. Would you embark on a major journey with no clear destination in mind? Doubtful!

You set goals on several levels:

Create a "grand vision" of what you want to do with your life (or in the next 10 years) and set large-scale goals.

Once these are determined, you must hit ever-smaller benchmarks to achieve your lifetime goals then you start working on your plan to reach your goals.

That's why we start by looking at your life goals. On to the following five years, then next year, month, week, and today to start moving towards them.

Make Life Goals
The first stage in developing personal goals is to consider your life goals (or at least, by a significant and distant age in the future). Living with a vision helps you see the big picture and make better choices.

Try to set goals in some of the following categories (or your own, if you prefer):

Career - What do you aim to achieve in your career?
Earnings - How much do you wish to make by when? What does this mean for your career?
Education - Do you have any specific knowledge goals? What knowledge and abilities will you need to reach other goals?

Do you wish to have kids? So how will you be a good parent? How do you want to be seen by a partner or family members?

Do you have any artistic goals?

Is your attitude holding you back?

Is there anything in your behavior that bothers you? (If yes, create a goal to change your behavior or solve the issue.)

Physical - Do you have any athletic objectives or do you want to live a long and healthy life? How will you achieve this?

Pleasure - What do you want to do? (Make sure some of your life is for you!)

Do you want to help improve the world? But how?

Then choose one or more goals from each category that best reflect what you intend to do. Then consider cutting again so you can focus on a few key goals.

Ensure that the goals you establish are ones that you truly want to attain, not ones that your parents, relatives, or employers may want you to reach. When considering what to do with a partner, keep in mind that you must also be true to yourself.
